ONLINE LEARNING PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT

By using this online learning platform, you understand and agree to the following:

Production quality
ACNEM has long maintained a teaching style in which the lecturer is free to move around (instead of standing stationary at a lectern), and participants are encouraged to engage with the lecturer and to ask questions during the presentation.  Feedback from delegates has indicated that this has been a desirable feature of ACNEM training over the years.  As a result, we have filmed the lectures in this style, which it is acknowledged may impact on the production quality.

Therefore, the lectures you view in this online version of ACNEM training are offered ‘as is’, that is, as they were filmed at a recent ACNEM training event, complete with questions from the floor and other imperfections.  There will be instances in which:

• The video quality may be grainy, especially when the camera is panning left-right. This is due to using software that attempts to balance production quality with speed of internet download.
• The lecturer may move ‘out of camera’ for a period of time. This may be due to a range of issues, not the least of which is excessive lecturer movement or camera-person fatigue!
• The audio (for example, of participant comments and questions) may be inaudible. A hand-held microphone is provided for delegate questions, but sometimes does not reach the delegate before the question has been asked.
• The Powerpoint slides may get ‘out of sync’ with the lecturer for a period of time because they are being manually advanced by the camera-person on the ‘recording’ computer – which is a separate computer to the one the lecturer is using.
• The lecture video switches to audio only (no picture) for a period of time, most often due to excessive lecturer movement or delegate involvement.
• You are able to see or identify delegates at the course at which the lecture was filmed (see privacy considerations below).

Privacy of others
You agree to respect the privacy of other participants you may interact with in this online learning platform, and of the delegates you may see or identify in the videos of the actual lectures given at ACNEM courses, in that you will not make public or share with others, any details of their attendance at, or participation in, the course, any of their comments or questions, nor attempt to contact them outside of this platform, nor in any way infringe their privacy by virtue of your participation in this online learning program. Likewise, you agree to respect the privacy of the lecturers by only making contact with them in the manner offered through this online learning platform, eg: by use of the forum or email.

Your own privacy
To guard against misuse of the online learning website, you understand that ACNEM may collect and maintain a detailed log of access to the platform using your login and password combination, including but not limited to, setting cookies on your computer (like most websites do), recording your IP address and sufficient details of the computer you are using to identify if multiple computers access the learning platform from your login, the length of time you spend visiting certain pages, and other measures of the nature and extent of your interaction with the online learning platform which are designed to check for possible misuse of the system and to validate attendance and compliance. You also understand that your online participation (eg: in the discussion forum) has the potential to identify you to other participants, who have also agreed to these privacy requirements.

Appropriate use
You agree to only use this online learning platform only in the manner for which it is intended, and not to share your login/password with anyone else.  When interacting with other online participants (eg: in the discussion forum), you agree to always be polite, tolerant and respectful.  You understand that ACNEM may restrict or cancel your access to this platform without notice if you breach any of the requirements in this agreement.
